Katy Perry has pulled out in the People's Choice awards within the wake of her split from Russell Brand.
The 'Firework' singer has canceled her planned appearance on the ceremony Wednesday night, which would have been her first public appearance since Russell declared divorce on December 30, ending their 14-month union.
She wrote on twitter: "Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I would like to thank u all for voting for me personally, fingers crossed! (sic)"
Katy, 27, increased for seven awards with the ceremony, including Favorite Female Artist.
Following your couple announced no more their marriage, Russell's invite to the show was withdrawn in order to avoid the possibility of an awkward meeting between them.
Meanwhile, Russell is getting over the split by going to watch his favorite team West Ham United.
The 'Arthur' star is taken an extended holiday following a Christmas period and is spending his free time going to watch the east London club play numerous games as possible.
An origin told The Sun newspaper: "Russell is looking forward to catching up with old friends and watching West Ham. He had been a regular face in your own home games and also make the miles attending away matches. He can't wait to obtain stuck in again."
However, coming to the ground could retrieve bittersweet memories for Russell, 36, as he could be reminded almost daily Katy made 12 costume changes on the MTV European Music Awards in 2009, including wearing a bespoke burlesque West Ham lingerie group of basque and pants, using the team's badge on each breast and his awesome nickname 'Rusty' written across her butt.
